• WHAT IS SCAR MASSAGE?

    Developed to help treat scar tissue, adhesions and fibrosis after surgery such as C-Sections, Hysterectomy, Mastectomy, Abdominal surgery, Cording or injuries. The treatment uses specialist massage and fascial release techniques, alongside self-care advice and management strategies to promote healthy recovery. Scars develop as a result of injury to the skin, this is a normal healing process. Scars develop both on and below the skin, your body makes fibres out of something called collagen to strengthen the scar.

  • WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

    Soft-tissue massage promotes blood flow and breaks up patterns of adhesions that often accompany scar tissue. Pairing scar massage with soft tissue massage can be especially helpful. Based on a variety of massage techniques and soft tissue work, a combination of light massage strokes along with some hand instrument tools and silicone cupping to release tight scars.

    Scar massage is also beneficial for older scars. The body is constantly regenerating cells so your scar can still improve when given the correct stimulation. Scar Therapists cannot make scars disappear but treatment usually helps with pain, sensitivity, itching and textual cosmetic changes.

  • HOW CAN SCAR MASSAGE HELP?

    Helping improve range of motion, appearance, texture and reduce pain and discomfort. Scar massage is commonly recommended by surgeons because it promotes optimum scar healing after surgery and may minimise longer term complications.

    Treatment will focus on areas of tightness and tension around your scar and the underlying fascia, muscles and any fibrotic tissue.

    Scar therapy can be used on any type of scar - surgical, injury, burn, post-radiotherapy. Improvements can be seen within a couple of sessions. Scars will continue to grow and change for about twelve to eighteen months, so the earlier and more regularly you massage your scar, the better it will heal.

    I carry out all my massages in my home just south of Chichester or if travel is difficult I can come to you. Before your appointment I will send you an online pre-screening form before the appointment to ascertain what surgery or injury you have had. Then, at session, we will have a short chat to confirm where I will be working and what I will be doing. I will also suggest self-care for you to continue with.

  • HOW LONG IS A SESSION?

    Session are charged at £40 for 30 minutes, £60 for 60 minutes or £90 for a 90 minute session, This longer session combines Scar Massage & remedial relaxation massage.

  • WHAT IS SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE?

    Soft tissue massage helps by offering both physical and emotional benefits. The physical benefits include pain relief, muscle relaxation, joint relief and the flushing away of toxins. However, it can also help lessen any stress felt from diagnosis, pre and post surgery and ongoing treatment. It can help soothe sleeping issues and generally help feel calmer and more in control. These techniques have proven to be helpful in conditions such as carpel tunnel, frozen shoulder, upper and lower back pain.
